What kind of gas does a Harley Sportster take? Use a good quality unleaded gasoline. Use at least 91 (95 RON) pump octane (R + M)/2. Octane rating is usually found on the pump. Remove fuel filler cap slowly and fill fuel tank slowly to prevent spillage.

Long term effects of ethanol are nothing to worry about on your Harley, at 10%. There was a recall years ago for petcock internal rubber parts, and carb rubber parts (1994-1996) due to breakdown with exposure to Ethanol.

Harley-Davidson advises owners of all fuel-injected models to use premium unleaded gasoline. But is it really necessary to use 91 or 92 octane gas? For starters, there are still some gas stations in the remote areas of the United States and Canada that sell only 87 octane and diesel.

Also, using fuel with a higher octane content than your engine requires will make you spend more. You’d be better off saving the money than spending more on fuel, hoping your Harley will run better. It will not, and you may feel cheated. Your Harley will run ethanol gas without a problem unless it’s an older model.

0. I took my trike for a little romp the other day, about 250 mi. Most of this was on freeways, kept it at the speed limit, 70 mph. I did this just to check the gas milage, and for some bike time of course, I averaged 29.6 mpg. WAY off of what they advertise.

Answer: For any Harley Twin-Cam engine, we highly recommend using AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 in “all three holes” (as they put it) for two essential reasons. Update: AMSOIL now offers dedicated fluid for Harley Davidson primary chain-cases and transmissions.

With my Honda I was told to just use plain old regular unleaded. This is all I have done for all my auto's over the years as well. I've always believed that the higher grades are just higher priced. Also, I have seen someone mention "Outlaw Fuel Additive" in another thread.

For example, one of the best oils on the market for your Harley is the Mobil 1 Racing 4T Engine Oil. This motorcycle oil is recommended for tons of 4-stroke engines, and is used for both street and motocross motorcycles. It is engineered to help get your motorcycle through extreme conditions, including very hot and very cold temperatures.

The fuel specs on both types of these Harley Davidson golf carts are almost identical, only with a few differences on the newer models. These golf carts both use high-quality, certified two-cycle golf cart oil called TCW-3, which should be mixed with low-octane gas.
