Gaseous diffusion is a technology used to produce enriched uranium by forcing gaseous uranium hexafluoride (UF₆) through semipermeable membranes. This produces a slight separation between the molecules containing uranium-235 (²³⁵U) and uranium-238 (²³⁸U).
