Oil in gas goes into solution with the gas. It does not remain separated. It would take six to eight quarts of oil to cause any noticeable viscosity change in gasoline in the amount of gas in automobile gas tanks. One quart of oil would lubricate the fuel system and increase mileage slightly because of the higher BTU content of the oil.

If someone puts transmission fluid in your gas tank, the fuel system can get contaminated soon. Such a problem can cause noticeable symptoms such as stalling, excessive smoking, and even disabling your engine.

You might be able to file an insurance claim to cover the repair costs depending on the type of insurance policy that you have. If some type of contaminant was put in the fuel tank you will have to drain and flush out the entire system from the tank all the way to the fuel injectors and the return fuel line.

The effects of putting syrup in the gas tank of a car depend on how far the syrup gets into the fuel system. If the car is started and run for any length of time, the syrup can end up clogging the fuel filter, which can cause the flow of fuel to be restricted, and in turn can cause the engine to stop running.

Bleach can cause corrosion and rust to your car parts and can damage the engine. Some people would find it ridiculous and foolish to put bleach in a gas tank. If you want to keep your car, then you must not do this. But there are people with their reasons for putting bleach in the gas tank of a car.

The vehicle will run at first but will halt altogether when there will be no trace of fuel in the tank. If you leave it too long inside the fuel system, it will corrode and cause rust to several engine components because it contains chlorine – a highly corrosive oxidizer. Let’s watch what happens if you fill up a car with bleach

If the fuel filter is located after your fuel pump, then the sugar may caramelize on your fuel pump mechanisms. Enough buildup over time would cause the fuel pump to simply stop working, which would prevent the car from starting. You may hear the pump begin to whine, squeal, or make other unusual noises when a thick coating begins forming.

If you pour DEF into your fuel tank and realize your mistake immediately, your fuel system needs to be flushed, and there may be some part repairs or replacements required just from the fluid having been there. If you don’t realize your mistake immediately and start your engine, you’ll realize your mistake almost immediately.
