It returns EPA estimates of 18/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined, a significant improvement over the WRX's 17/23/19 mpg figures. With the 15.9-gallon fuel tank at full capacity, the MazdaSpeed3 allows for 334 miles of total range.

Because it appears the 2007 3 is going to get a 6-speed, and Mazda has already said the fuel efficiency will be better on the 2007 model than the 2006 model, getting that kind of gas mileage in the Mazdaspeed version would be tough to swallow. Already 26 city/32 hwy is impressive to me, especially since it only requires regular grade gas.

The car runs perfectly, everything is fine except the gas mileage. On fueleconomy.gov (2015 Mazda 3 4-Door) city mpg is 30 (=7.8l/100km). For this one week I mostly drove in the city and at the end average mpg was 15 (=15l/100km), I was shocked because I didn't drive like a maniac, my average speed was 30mph.

I've had my 2011 Mazda3 Hatchback GT 2.5L (automatic) since 2016 and I've been logging mileage and gas ever since I had the car. The average MPG over these years has been 22.4 with a maximum of 28 MPG. I noticed a 10%-15% decrease in gas consumption after I replaced spark plugs at last December at around 108k.

Today, I fueled up the 3 with 2.5 and got a little over 34 mpg. My wife is mostly driving it, and she does a lot more stops that I normally do. We live out of town and drive a lot of roads for 3-4 miles with no stop signs or lights and at 35-45 mph.
