I thought I had a loose wire on tank causing short,But someone said it could be a flex fuel moduale located in dsche somewhere.Im not sure where... Gas gauge not working - 2000 Ford Taurus Close

What to Check First When the Gauge Stops Working. The first stop in diagnostics for most automotive problems is at the fuse. Check the fuel gauge fuse. Check the fuse panel in the engine bay to determine which fuses are related to the dash panel and check them for damage — then replace any blown fuses. If the fuse isn’t the issue, there is a number of other things that can go wrong.

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. My gas gauge quit working. I took it to a shop. They tried two different fuel pumps, and it still doesn't work. They also replaced the cluster. It still doesn't work. I've been putting in some type of cleaner in my car that they said the computer said was the problem, still nothing.

Gas Gauge Failure is less common, but still a possible issue. If the internal circuit is faulty, the gas gauge may only function in one section, such as between HALF and FULL or between EMPTY and HALF. If the internal circuits are shorted, they may peg to FULL or EMPTY. If the circuit is open, the gas gauge will likely sit at EMPTY and never move.

SOURCE: 2004 ford taurus hesitates when I hit the gas? this is happening because of your fuel pressure which is slowing down when you open the throttle to the intake manifold. you are losing fuel pressure somewhere from the gas tank and the fuel rail. do a fuel pressure check test. that might do the trick. This allows the gauge to read more accurately, especially in cars with complicated gas-tank shapes. Systems like this can also trigger a fuel light that signals when fuel is getting low. Most of these lights come on while there are still a couple of gallons of gas left in the tank, giving you plenty of time to stop for fuel.
