Top best answers to the question «Can you use ttukbaegi on a electric stove»

  • (#2) Traditionally, Ttukbaegis were heated over a fire or gas stove. Most have a small circular ridge on the bottom which creates a gap between the heat source and the pot. But this gap causes inefficient heating when cooking over a flat electric cooking top - which is in most modern kitchens.

What do you use a ttukbaegi pot for?

  • Ttukbaegi pots are the 'workhorse' cooking ware in a Korean kitchen. They're used daily to cook and serve staple stews like Doenjang Jjigae or Kimchi Jjigae. When buying a Ttukbaegi, it's important to check that it is durable, retains heat and easy to clean!

To use either a dolsot or ddukbaegi you simply place it right on your stove top burner, either gas or electric, but you want to start with low heat first, for about 2 minutes. This will allow the pot to warm up slowly and not crack. After a few minutes you can turn the heat to medium.

To address this problem, the company has created their "Highlight Ttukbaegis" which have no ridge. They make direct contact with the electric cooking tops for quick and even heating. (However, please note that both versions do not work on induction stovetops). (#3) Clean Ttukbaegi does not overflow.

In the dolsot version, the pre-cooked ingredients are placed in the pot and heated over the stove. The rice sizzles and turns crispy while a cracked egg cooks against the hot stone. A stone pot is best for this dish, but since we don’t own one (yet!), we use the earthenware ddukbaegi pot with good results.

They will also be more stable on the smooth top. The same is true of rounded edge stovetop griddles; some tend to rock, and heat does not distribute properly. Never use abrasive cleaners or metal pads which can scratch; instead, use a soft sponge or cloth and cream cleaning solutions made for ceramic or glass cooktops.

Yes, you can use it on an electric stove, too. to make dolsot bibimbap, Place some sesame oil on the bottom of the bowl and add warm rice and vegetables on top. Heat it up and wait about a few minutes until rice on the bottom starts burning. You will hear cracking sound. “tak..tak..tak” ^^ Check this out please.

This pot can be used on gas stoves or electric stoves. It can also be used in ovens and microwaves. However, it will NOT work on induction stove tops (no magnetic material)
