Why does a gas completely fill any container in which you put it while a solid does not? a gas is like a liquid so it will fill any container you put it in, a solid won't because its a matter.

Filling of a gas container: Liquids do not fill a gas container completely, while gases fill the gas container completely in which it is kept. This is because the particles of gas can move in all the directions.

Filling of a gas container- The gases can fill the container with a large amount when we applied external pressure. Shape- Solids have fixed shape and boundaries. Liquid and gases have no fixed shape and definite boundaries.

A gas will fill any container, but if the container is not sealed, the gas will escape. Gas can be compressed much more easily than a liquid or solid. (Think about a diving tank – 600 L of gas is compressed into a 3 L cylinder.)

Experiment shows that if a small opening is made in the barrier, allowing the gas to pass between the two compartments, then after some time the gas will fill the whole volume of the cylinder. Indeed it's a well-known property of gases that they fill the entirety of the volume of the container in which they are confined.
