We recently have connected our fire pit to the gas stub at our house. However, we have yet to buy a barbecue for our house, and would prefer to use the gas stub instead of having to use a propane tank. I was wondering, does there exist some type of directional control valve to direct gas flow to either the fire pit or the barbecue?

Tanks use national pipe thread after the regulator and cylinders (bbq tanks) use cylinder threads(M something or whatever) . I use the BBQ a lot. Normally the house bottle lasts longer than the BBQ one. My cooktop runs from 2 x 9kg gas bottles and was installed this way by a licensed gas fitter. So no problem as such, it's the exact same gas in the 9kg bottles as with the 45kg and it's the same fitting too. The only issue is the physical size of the bottle.

I connected my propane grill to my house propane supply after the whole house regulator. My grill at low temp setting heats to 500. I thought I needed another regulator. I attached the regulator that came with the grill to the grill supply line. I had to purchase an adapter for the propane grill tank end.
