That said, in the last few months I have been using my Scangauge to 'hypermile' (not really, but close) the Si, easily getting into the mid to high 30s on several tanks (average 36.5 MPG over last 7 fills).

Its the CVT trans and the engine has higher compression than the Gen 8. Use better fuel. Winter gas is about 5-10 percent less in mpg. Lights,heat and long warmups is good for another 10-15 percent. Also the weather cold below 32 mpg drops due to fuel enrichment. My wife has a 14 LX and cant get better than 25 mpg winter and 30 hwy summer.
